My buddy Keith Harris has been talking about tough love lately on his blog. I love it! You see, I was always that lazy guy who didn't want to do any more physical work than I had to. I actually took pride in the "work smart, not hard" philosophy. That's great in most areas of life. But guess what, folks? You can't do that with fitness. I tried it. The pills, the shakes, the detox diets. There is NO OTHER OPTION! You have to WORK HARD and break thru that wall of weakness that says I'M FEELING LAZY today.

I want to let you all know that you CAN do it. If a lazy, fat, computer programmer can do it, anyone can! Sometimes we just need someone to stand up and say get your head out of your butt, ya idiot! So that's what I'm passing along to you right here. What does it take to get the body and health you've dreamed of? Not much, really. Get on a Beachbody fitness plan, and follow the diet. Period. You have to commit and you have to do it right. Follow the rules, people! Eat the foods in your food guide, and don't miss workouts. Don't eat the junk that tempts you and don't go fiddling with the workout schedule! I challenge every one of you to do one of these programs for 90 days. What is 90 days? Nothing! I did Power 90, P90 Masters Series, and P90X. Every one was another 90 day commitment. This past Monday, I began another round of X. 90 days is such a short period of time over a lifetime. And hey, guess what? That 90 days is going to make you HEALTHIER and HAPPIER for the REST OF YOUR LIFE! How could that not be worth it? Just give me 90 days, nothing more. If you are miserable after doing one of these programs the right way for 90 days, let me know. I will personally buy the program back from you. I have NEVER met anyone that completed a program and was unhappy with the results.

You know when I DO see unhappy people? When they start throwing other things into the mix. "Oh, I went for a run instead of doing YogaX." or "Oh, I had a slimfast instead of some real meat and veggies." And, of course there's "Oh, I quit, that first 2 days was TOUGH!" Guess what? That ain't it, people! A commitment to 90 days is essential to success here. Every workout has it's place in the rotation, you won't get the results if you change them up. And proper nutrition is just as important as the workouts. If you don't feed that body the right things, you might as well quit working out. I've seen tons of people complaining about weight GAIN because they're starving themselves! Once you have done this once or twice, then you can choose what you want to do. At the beginning, you need to do it by the book.

For my friends out there that say they can't afford it. I hear ya! But in all seriousness, what is your health worth? I mean, if you could put a price on losing fat, what would it be? Go ask a plastic surgeon how much that lipo will cost! I know my $70 investment in Power90 was worth it. I lost 25.4lbs, most of that being fat. That's less than $3/lb. Would you pay $3 to lose a pound of fat? Skip a latte so you can look buff at the beach! How about your health and well being? What is it worth to be around for your kids and grandkids for many years to come? Had I just bought a gym membership, I'd have spent $120 for the 3 months. And I'd be left with nothing to show for it after my 3 months were up. Not to mention, I wouldn't have made the same progress as I aimlessly did my own routines. That gym membership doesn't include any dietary plan either! To me, it's a clear choice if you're serious about making a real change.

The bottom line is this - you MUST commit and do something for 90 days. If you don't, then don't complain about results. I don't want to hear it! Have you read my story? Have you seen what I did? That's from following the programs as designed! Don't know where to start? Contact me. That's what I am here for! I have personally done many of the Beachbody programs. I will work with you to figure out what program is best for you. And I will stick with you as your coach to make sure you make the most of it. I also know coaches with expertise in other areas. I'll hook you up with them if that's the best fit.

If you have one of these programs already but you're not following it.... Shame on you. I bet you're disappointed in your results. The good news is we can fix it! You already made the biggest step in purchasing it. Shoot me an email and let's chat. I can help you get things on track. I promise it's not nearly as hard as you may think.

If you're reading this and you're doing the programs right. Then you're all buff, sitting there grinning. Either because you agree, you're not as fat as me, or both. Either way, congrats on your success, I'm glad you're enjoying my blog. If you're not already, I invite you to be a coach with me. Come check out "Why Be a Coach?"

Re: Tough Love

Amen!! I am so tired of hearing people complain. It really is as simple as you say!! You will get out of it what you put into it! The people creating these programs didn't just throw a bunch of different stuff in there. It's a PLAN!! YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE PLAN!!! I get that we aren't all perfect and will slip up, but come on!! You can't slip up all the time!! Either commit to doing it, and doing it the right way or just do it your way and stay fat and unhappy. It's your choice!!! (There is a reason the people at BB are getting paid for this--I think they know what they are doing. Do you?) How's that been working out for you???

Re: Tough Love

Yep :-) Day 44 of P90X here! I swapped ONE workout, I was sick and did Cardio X instead of Plyo for one week... with Tony's approval :-) I'm loving the results and planning another round :-)
